Is DevOps the same as platform engineering or SRE?
There's overlap. DevOps tends to be CI/CD and IaC heavy. Platform engineering builds developer-facing systems. SRE focuses on reliability + on-call. Pick the title that matches the JD.
How important is Kubernetes in 2026?
Still required at most mid-to-large companies. If you don't have it, lead with what you do have (ECS, Nomad, serverless) and apply to roles that match.
Should I include certifications (AWS, CKA)?
If you have them, yes — they're a passive filter signal. Don't pad with low-value certs; one or two strong ones is the right level.
